Peugeot’s Troubles Test François Hollande’s Contradictory Campaign Promises - NYTimes.com

How could we do a meaningful comparison of how Presidents HOLLANDE and OBAMA are "doing" in their respective countries? This would be a chart, perhaps, with issues facing them and what they are doing - are able to do - in confronting these issues - and what success, or not, they are having.

France Votes Its Discontents - NYTimes.com

What moves politics in France compared to the US? Sure, there are those who think they know France better than they know themselves but I find her always to be more complicated, just as is the case here in the US -- it's always more complicated than it seems. How do we learn from France in this context and how do we all help both France and the US avoid situations that don't have to be or that could be resolved? It seems to me that the final result in the French presidential election is going to matter more both to our two countries and to Europe than we think it will today, and, in any case, we are not very well prepared to address those things that ought to be done depending on which candidate wins.
